Simon Shaw: In hot water

British & Irish Lions lock Simon Shaw has been cited for dangerous play during his side's 28-9 victory over the Springboks in the third Test.

Citing officer Steve Hinds of New Zealand cited Shaw for an offence of striking with the knee in the 37th minute of the first half.

Referee Stuart Dickinson yellow-carded Shaw for the offence which was committed on Springbok scrum-half Fourie du Preez, a foul which ultimately caused du Preez to leave the field injured.

Shaw will appear before Judicial Officer Alan Hudson of Canada at the offices of the Golden Lions Rugby Union in Johannesburg on Sunday at midday local time (1100 BST).

Shaw was sent off and banned for a similar offence in New Zealand in 2005 and may find himself banned for up to four weeks.
